Kerstin von der Krone is a research fellow at the German Historical Institute Washington since January 2016. Her fields of research include Jewish history in Central Europe in the modern era and the history of Jewish thought; she focuses in particular on communication practices related to knowledge production, education and scholarship as well as the possibilities and limits of political interaction in modern Jewish history.
She studied Jewish Studies, Political Science, and Media and Communication Studies in Berlin and Tel Aviv and holds a master’s degree in Jewish Studies (Freie Universität Berlin, 2004) and a PhD in Religious Studies (University of Erfurt, 2010). She was a fellow of the German Academic Exchange Service, the Leo Baeck Fellowship Programme, the German National Academic Foundation and the FAZIT Foundation.
Between January 2014 and December 2015 she has been a research fellow at the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research in Braunschweig as part of the first funding period of the Project „Innovation through tradition?”. From 2012—2013 she was the programme administrator of the research network Law in Context and its post-doctoral programme Rechtskulturen: Confrontations beyond Comparison at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin.
She is member of the editorial board of the online-journal MEDAON – Magazin für jüdisches Leben in Forschung und Bildung.
